On Monday, April 5, 2021, Malik Fogler, a 45-year-old male, was fatally shot in the West Ward of the city. The incident occurred on the 1000 block of South Orange Avenue, a detail that would become a focal point in the subsequent investigation. Emergency services were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, Fogler was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m.
