In the late summer evening of August 30, 2021, Freddie Darnell 'Dizel' Davis, a 43-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Trenton, New Jersey. The incident occurred on the 400 block of West Hanover Street as Davis was returning to his residence from his job as a dietary aide.
Reports indicate that after parking his vehicle, Davis was accosted by two unidentified males who attempted to rob him. During the course of this confrontation, a shot was fired, and Davis was struck.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and he was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Freddie Darnell Dizel Davis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the homicide. Authorities have described the assailants as two male suspects, but as of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
