On the evening of March 10, 2015, former Trenton boxer Steven Quinton Brannon was found suffering from gunshot wounds. A 46-year-old Black male, Brannon was discovered alongside another victim, 58-year-old Marvin Williams, who was also shot. Despite medical efforts, Brannon succumbed to his injuries at Capital Regional Medical Center on the same day. In his youth, Brannon had pursued an amateur boxing career in the 1980s and showed promise of turning professional.
He was a father and grandfather who was known to love spending time with his family.
The investigation into Brannon's death led to the arrest of William Snead III. Already in jail on unrelated drug and weapons offenses following a police raid on his home, Snead was charged with Brannon's murder. Prosecutors reported that Snead provided a taped confession admitting to the fatal shooting of the former boxer. The community mourned Brannon's death, with local faith organizations holding prayer vigils for him and his family.
