On a Saturday afternoon in Swedesboro, New Jersey, a family celebration turned into a scene of tragedy, ending the life of 43-year-old Dennis McKenzie. On October 9, 2021, police responded to a 911 call from McKenzie's home on Cottonwood Road shortly after 4 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered the male resident deceased, having sustained gunshot wounds to his head and back. An autopsy later confirmed that the manner of his death was a homicide.
