In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Jersey City, the life of 34-year-old Kyle Howard of Newark was tragically cut short. On June 12, 2022, at approximately 11:15 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the vicinity of Forrest Street and Martin Luther King Drive. Upon their arrival, they discovered that a shooting had occurred, but the victim was not at the scene. Howard, a male, had been privately transported to Jersey City Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight, at approximately 12:45 a.m. on June 13.
The investigation into Howard's death led to the identification and arrest of three individuals. On July 25, 2022, authorities apprehended 21-year-old Quadre Domnie of Jersey City and 19-year-old Jekhi Wade of North Plainfield. They were taken into custody without incident in the area of Cator Avenue and Rose Avenue in Jersey City. Both men were charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and receiving stolen property. They were subsequently held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending their first court appearances.
Several months later, the investigation culminated in the arrest of a third suspect. On October 17, 2022, 22-year-old Dahmar Robinson of Newark was charged in connection with Howard's murder. At the time the charges were filed, Robinson was already incarcerated at the Morris County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges. He faced the same charges as his co-defendants: murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, along with receiving stolen property. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department, led the investigation that resulted in the arrests of the three men believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting.
