In the early morning hours of October 19, 2022, the life of 21-year-old Tyronne Ford of Mays Landing was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Atlantic City. Just before 2 a.m., an alert from the city's ShotSpotter system drew police to the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Ford, unconscious and unresponsive. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead.

The investigation that followed the male's death led to the identification and eventual arrest of three suspects. Rahmir Bethea, 33, of Atlantic City, was apprehended shortly after the incident. Investigators connected him to a gray Ford Escape that was seen leaving the area of the shooting. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Bethea and two other men, one holding a rifle, getting into the vehicle before the shooting. He was initially charged with conspiracy to commit murder, with subsequent charges of murder and weapons offenses.

Two other individuals were later charged in connection with Ford's death. David Santiago, 23, from Westville, Ohio, and Rasabohyt Bethea, 39, of Atlantic City, also faced charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Santiago was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service. Rasabohyt Bethea was considered a fugitive for a time before being arrested in Virginia. The case against the three men is ongoing.
