In the early morning hours of Monday, November 7, 2022, a tragic event unfolded on the 1200 block of Jackson Street in Camden, New Jersey, that would ultimately claim the life of 30-year-old Ryan Hodge. Responding to a 9-1-1 call at approximately 7:46 a.m., Camden County Police Department officers and emergency medical services personnel discovered Hodge at the scene with gunshot wounds.
He was a male resident of Camden City.
Hodge was immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital for treatment of his critical injuries. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries two days later, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. His death was ruled a homicide, prompting an active and ongoing investigation by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and the Camden County Police Department.
Following the shooting, authorities began a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for Hodge's death. In late November 2022, the efforts of law enforcement led to a significant development in the case. A 36-year-old Camden City man, Abdur Catoe, was identified as a suspect and subsequently arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service. He was charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Ryan Hodge.
