Tony L. Thames, a Michigan State Police Trooper, tragically lost his life on June 12, 1983, at the age of 25. The incident occurred outside the Balmar Motel in Detroit, Michigan, while Thames was off-duty. At approximately 2:30 a.m., Thames and a companion were approached by two male suspects.
