Jerry Foster Philpot II, a 28-year-old police officer with the Detroit Police Department, tragically lost his life on May 25, 1995. Officer Philpot was killed in the line of duty, a victim of gang-related gunfire. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when he was shot by an assailant wielding an AK-47 rifle. This violent encounter resulted in the immediate death of one suspect, while three others were apprehended and taken into custody.
