On a tragic Tuesday morning in Detroit, Michigan, 77-year-old Stanley Hays approached the Comerica branch on the city's northeast side, completely unaware of the violent scene unfolding within. It was March 11, 1997, and what began as a routine day would end in heartbreak for the community. Inside the bank, a troubled 21-year-old named Allen Lane Griffin Jr. had embarked on a deadly rampage.
