In the pre-dawn hours of November 25, 2001, the quiet intersection of Beardsley and Conn Avenue in Elkhart, Indiana, became the scene of a grim discovery. At approximately 3:30 a.m., a passerby stumbled upon a chilling sight: the lifeless body of a man lying in the street next to his gray Honda Accord. The man was identified as 31-year-old Roderick Hunt, a Black / African American male from the nearby city of South Bend, Michigan.
Upon their arrival, Elkhart Police officers found that
Mr. Hunt had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene, his life tragically cut short. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain shrouded in mystery, as investigators have been unable to piece together the events that led to this violent end. Mr. Hunt was later laid to rest in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
