Keith L. Bender Jr., a 35-year-old Army veteran, tragically died on April 11, 2006, in Detroit, Michigan. Bender, who had served as a medic during Operation Desert Storm, was involved in a fatal altercation at the C.C.C. nightclub. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m., when a verbal dispute over a game of pool escalated into violence.
