On October 27, 2014, 15-year-old Demantrae "Trae" Franklin was shot and killed at the Eureka Gardens apartment complex in Jacksonville, Florida. Trae, a high school student and band member, had gone to meet friends when he was ambushed and shot multiple times. He was found by a witness near the apartment building.
