Roderick Jones, a 33-year-old Highland Park Reserve Officer and Army Ranger veteran, tragically lost his life on February 6, 2015, in Detroit, Michigan. Jones was ambushed and shot three times in the chest while working security at the Opyum Lounge Nightclub on Eight Mile Road. He had stepped outside to secure the parking lot for club goers and employees when the attack occurred. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Jones succumbed to his injuries.
