In the pre-dawn hours of Monday, August 22, 2016, 33-year-old Bobby Beverly sat in his car at a 76 gas station on Grand River Avenue and Evergreen Road in Detroit. It was a moment of quiet before the city fully awoke, a stillness that was violently shattered at approximately 3:15 a.m. In a brutal and unprovoked attack, two men ambushed him, one wielding an AK-47 assault rifle. They unleashed a hail of gunfire into his vehicle, ending his life in a sudden burst of violence.
