On a cold December evening in Detroit, Michigan, just days before Christmas in 2017, the life of 18-year-old Damond Carpenter was tragically cut short. A freshman at Western Michigan University and a member of the cheerleading squad, he was home for the holiday break. On the night of December 22nd, Damond was sitting in a car with two friends at the Eastland Court Apartments, in the area of Cadieux and Morang on the city's east side.
