In the early morning hours of a November day in Detroit, Michigan, a sense of unease pierced the quiet of a neighborhood as a fatal encounter unfolded. Lester Taylor, a 60-year-old man, was at his home with his wife when the doorbell rang. Believing it to be someone he knew, Taylor opened the door and was met with a single, deadly gunshot.
