Freddie Porter, a 42-year-old Black male from Caro, Michigan, was found deceased on April 6, 2017. His body was discovered in the trunk of his own Chevrolet Malibu at the Mitchell Softball Complex in Corunna, Michigan. The investigation, led by the Michigan State Police, determined that Porter had been murdered in Flint and his body was subsequently transported to Shiawassee County.
The investigation swiftly led to the identification and arrest of three suspects from Flint: Ojwjuan Jamal
King, Hillery Marshall, and Wesley Wilson. All three men were charged with murder in connection with Freddie Porter's death. Following their arrests, they were held at the Genesee County Jail without bond. The suspects were arraigned on the murder charges, and the case proceeded through the legal system. The prompt action by law enforcement in apprehending the suspects brought a sense of relief to the community, which had been shaken by the crime.
