In September of 2017, the quiet community of Bridgman, Michigan, was unsettled by the deaths of a well-known couple. Pamela Ackerman, a 67-year-old White female, and her husband, Donald, were found deceased in their Baldwin Road home on September 16th. The discovery was made after concerned family members contacted police, reporting that they had not heard from the couple for several days.
Upon entering the residence, officers from the Bridgman Police Department found both Pamela and her 63-year-old husband, Donald, had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The initial circumstances of their deaths were considered suspicious, prompting a thorough investigation into the incident. An autopsy later confirmed the cause of death for both individuals. The results revealed that Pamela had suffered two gunshot wounds to the head, while Donald had a single gunshot wound.
As the investigation progressed, evidence increasingly pointed towards a murder-suicide. Authorities concluded that Donald Ackerman shot his wife before taking his own life. This determination was based on the evidence collected at the scene and the findings of the autopsy. Consequently, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths, and the investigation did not identify any other suspects. The case was expected to be forwarded to the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office for review.
