On January 19, 2023, 50-year-old Andrea Grant of Plymouth, Michigan, was found deceased inside her vehicle in a parking lot on Plaza Drive in Pittsfield Township, near Ann Arbor. The vehicle exhibited multiple bullet holes, indicating she had been fatally shot.

Authorities identified 59-year-old Michael Anthony Elinski as the primary suspect in Grant's death. Elinski was known to the victim, leading investigators to believe the attack was targeted rather than random.
