At the time of his death, Cameron was a freshman at East Jackson High School, having also attended Michigan Center Schools. He was known for his competitive spirit, participating in basketball, track, and boxing.
Those who knew him described him as having a gentle spirit, a silly sense of humor, and a charismatic personality.
Months after the shooting, Cameron's family, still seeking answers, began holding demonstrations on street corners in Jackson to keep his memory alive and to appeal to the public for information. They expressed frustration with the lack of progress in the investigation into the death of their son and brother. The family felt they were not receiving adequate communication from the Jackson Police Department regarding the status of the case. They voiced their pain and desire for justice, stating that the individuals suspected of being involved were still at large.
