On April 28, 2003, a violent incident occurred in the South End of Boston, Massachusetts, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Jose DaVeiga and the severe injury of Christopher Carvalho. The events unfolded when DaVeiga, Carvalho, and Jonathan DaSilva left a Chinatown nightclub around 2:30 a.m. DaSilva was driving a Ford Taurus, and as they stopped at a red light at the intersection of Albany and East Berkeley streets, they were ambushed by gunmen from two other vehicles.
