On a Tuesday in the fall of 2008, a young Black/African American man named Rashod "Shoddy" Payne succumbed to injuries that had plagued him for two years. At 22 years old, his life was cut short on October 14, 2008, not from a sudden act of violence on that day, but from the lingering effects of a shooting that occurred in broad daylight on Geneva Avenue in Dorchester in 2006.
