On a summer afternoon in Belleville, Michigan, the life of 20-year-old Sonni Alexander Greene was tragically cut short. On June 12, 2020, Greene was found inside a car in the parking lot of a Burger King located at 2170 Rawsonville Road. He had been shot multiple times in what was later determined to be an act of retaliation for a previous shooting.
The incident, which occurred around 12:50 p.m., left the community shaken and searching for answers.
The investigation into the death of the young man from Belleville led authorities to two suspects, Montez Antonio Brooks and David Deshawn Evans. It was revealed that the shooting was a targeted act of retribution stemming from a prior altercation. The premeditated nature of the crime became a focal point of the subsequent legal proceedings.
Following his arrest, Montez Antonio Brooks faced trial for his role in the fatal shooting. The court proceedings brought to light the details of the retaliatory plot against Greene. On November 3, 2021, a Washtenaw County Trial Judge sentenced Brooks to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of first-degree premeditated murder. David Deshawn Evans was also implicated for his involvement in the shooting.
