In the quiet of a late December evening in Southfield, Michigan, the life of 48-year-old Fredrick Hudson was violently cut short in what police believe was a targeted attack. On December 27, 2020, Hudson, a husband and father of two, was shot and killed in the driveway of his own home.

The tragic events unfolded around 8 p.m. as Hudson returned to his residence. His wife, Ebony Hudson, and their two children were inside the house at the time. Upon hearing gunshots, she rushed outside to find her husband lying in the driveway, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. In the chaos, the assailant fled the scene in Hudson's 2013 Toyota Tundra.

The Southfield Police Department launched an investigation into the fatal carjacking. Their efforts quickly identified a person of interest, 25-year-old Tyron Miguel Turner Jr. Believing Hudson was followed home, investigators apprehended Turner shortly after the incident.

In early January 2021, the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office formally charged Tyron Miguel Turner Jr. with felony murder, felony firearm, and carjacking. At his arraignment in the 46th District Court, Turner was denied bond and remanded into custody pending further legal proceedings. The authorities indicated at the time that the investigation was ongoing.
