In a tragic turn of events, 21-year-old Joshua Harris lost his life in a fatal shooting on a Sunday in January 2017. The incident unfolded in Southfield, Michigan, at the Kingswood Condominium complex, located near 12 Mile and Evergreen roads. Harris, a resident of Detroit, was accompanied by a 19-year-old man from Detroit at the time of the incident.
According to police reports, Harris and his companion had arranged to meet two individuals to sell them marijuana.
During the course of this meeting, Harris was shot. The gunshot wound proved to be fatal, and the car Harris was in subsequently rolled over. The passenger in the vehicle initially fled the scene but later returned to cooperate with the investigation.
Authorities quickly identified and apprehended two suspects in connection with the homicide. Jalen William Smith and Tyler Maliek Allen, both 18 years old and residents of Southfield, were taken into custody. The two teenagers faced a litany of serious charges for their alleged involvement in the death of Joshua Harris.
The charges brought against Smith and Allen were extensive and included felony murder, two counts of armed robbery, assault with intent to murder, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Additionally, they faced three counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Following their arrest, both suspects were held without bond as they awaited further legal proceedings.
