In the late hours of a Saturday night, the life of 20-year-old Laquwan Kwame Frazier, a Black / African American male from Eastpointe, Michigan, was tragically cut short. On July 23, 2016, inside a home located on the 29000 block of Fairfax Street in Southfield, Frazier was fatally shot. The circumstances that led to this violent act remain shrouded in mystery, creating a wound in the community that has yet to heal.
At approximately 11:50 p.m., the Southfield Police Department received a
911 call reporting the shooting. Upon their arrival at the residence, officers discovered Frazier's body. The initial response from law enforcement included interviewing witnesses who were present at the scene in an attempt to piece together the events of that fateful night. Despite their immediate efforts, crucial details about a potential motive or the identity of any person or persons responsible proved to be elusive.
In the days that followed, the Southfield Police Department made public appeals for information, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward. They emphasized the critical role that community cooperation plays in solving such violent crimes. However, despite these pleas and the ongoing investigation, there has been no significant breakthrough in the case. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been officially named in connection with the murder of Laquwan Kwame Frazier.
