Landon Lorenzo Varner, a 21-year-old Black male from Flint, Michigan, was full of life and had a passion for creating music. He was a beloved son, brother, and uncle who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A graduate of Academy West, he was known for his well-mannered nature and his love for dressing well. His journey after high school saw him exploring his skills as an electrician and working diligently at McDonald's and later at Coldwater Place, where he was affectionately
known as 'LG' by the clients.
On the evening of February 1, 2021, Landon's life was tragically cut short. Just after 5 p.m., while driving at the intersection of Ballenger Highway and Sunset Drive in Flint, another vehicle pulled up alongside his. An individual inside the other car opened fire, striking Landon. He succumbed to his injuries at Hurley Medical Center. A passenger in his vehicle sustained minor injuries in the targeted attack.
In the wake of the shooting, the Michigan State Police launched an investigation into the homicide. Authorities made an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting, bringing a measure of hope to a grieving family and community. However, specific details regarding the suspect's identity and the motive behind the tragic event were not publicly released.
