In the city of Flint, Michigan, a 31-year-old Black woman named Taquitta Kameshia Barber was known for her radiant smile and loving nature. Those who knew her said she had a passion for dressing up and cared deeply for the people in her life. Her warm presence, however, was tragically cut short on April 29, 2021. On that Thursday, she was found deceased in her home on the 2900 block of Prospect Street, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
The discovery was made after the Flint Police Department was called to perform a welfare check.
The investigation into her death moved swiftly, and a suspect was soon taken into custody. Kenyatta Walters was arrested in connection with the killing. The charges brought against him were extensive and severe, reflecting the violent nature of the crime. Walters faced counts of Felony Murder, first-degree home invasion, larceny from a person, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and four counts of felony firearm.
