The shooting occurred in the early
morning hours, sending shockwaves through the local community. Investigators quickly identified a person of interest, and their efforts led to the arrest of Ernest McGill. He was subsequently charged with open murder in connection with Hollins's death, bringing a glimmer of hope for justice to a grieving family and community.

The dismissal came after a key witness could not be located to testify in the preliminary examination.
