In the early morning hours of July 11, 2021, the life of 27-year-old Damarco Scales, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in his hometown of Benton Harbor, Michigan. The fatal incident unfolded at the Berrien Homes Apartments, where a large party was taking place. Just after 3 a.m., while police were already en route to disperse the gathering, reports of gunfire erupted.
