In the early morning hours of June 26, 2022, a dispute in Detroit, Michigan, tragically cut short the life of 38-year-old Phillip Porter Jr. The incident unfolded outside a residence on Klinger Street, where an argument escalated to fatal violence. Porter was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the arrival of medics, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of
24-year-old Krisshawn Davon Tolbert of Harper Woods on July 12, 2022. According to authorities, Tolbert and Porter had been engaged in a verbal altercation when Tolbert allegedly produced a firearm and shot Porter multiple times. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office subsequently charged Tolbert with one count of second-degree murder and one count of felony firearm.
Following his arrest, Tolbert was arraigned on July 15, 2022. A judge set his bond at $250,000 cash/surety and mandated that he wear a GPS tether upon release. A probable cause conference was scheduled for early August of the same year, with a preliminary examination to follow.
