On a summer afternoon in Detroit, Michigan, tragedy struck 48-year-old Francisco O’Neal, a local man whose life was cut short by gunfire. The incident unfolded on July 11, 2022, at approximately 2:41 p.m. in the vicinity of a liquor store situated on the 19340 block of West Warren Avenue. O'Neal was reportedly walking to the store when he was confronted by an assailant who produced a handgun.
A single, fatal gunshot wound to the neck brought O'Neal to the ground inside the
establishment. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene. Members of the Detroit Fire Department arrived to provide medical assistance and transported him to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, Francisco O’Neal succumbed to his severe injury and was pronounced deceased.
The investigation into the shooting was swift, and the Detroit Police Department quickly identified a suspect. Two days after the fatal shooting, on July 13, 2022, authorities arrested 20-year-old Terrance Anderson Lewis, also from Detroit. It was revealed that Lewis and O'Neal were acquainted with one another and had been involved in a dispute prior to the deadly encounter.
Following his arrest, Terrance Anderson Lewis was charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and one count of Felony Firearm. He was arraigned in 36th District Court and remanded to jail. The subsequent legal proceedings included a Probable Cause Conference scheduled for August 1, 2022, and a Preliminary Examination set for August 8, 2022.
