In the fall of 2022, a Detroit community was shaken by the violent death of Charlovette Pointer, a 51-year-old woman, inside her own home. On the evening of October 16th, police responded to a call reporting a home invasion on Archdale Street. However, what they discovered upon arrival was not a robbery gone wrong, but a domestic tragedy that ended a life.
Inside the residence, officers found Charlovette Pointer suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response from medics, her injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced deceased at the scene. The initial report of a home invasion quickly unraveled as investigators began to piece together the events of that night. The focus of the investigation soon turned to someone Charlovette knew intimately.
Her husband, 51-year-old Kim Lamont Pointer, was present at the home when police arrived. Following an investigation into the circumstances of his wife's death, he was arrested and subsequently charged in her murder. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office brought forth serious charges against him, including Premeditated First-Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and multiple counts of Felony Firearm. Authorities allege that it was Kim Pointer who fired the shots that fatally wounded his wife, turning what should have been a safe space into the scene of her untimely death.
