On the morning of August 31, 2014, the lives of 23-year-old Jade Lauren Wilson and 18-year-old James Smith were tragically cut short on the west side of Detroit. The two were discovered in the street, both having sustained fatal gunshot wounds in what was immediately investigated as a double homicide. Wilson, a Black/African American female born on March 16, 1991, was known for her vibrant personality and active involvement in her community as a member of the Guiding Light Baptist Church.
