Officers and investigators converged on the 2200 block, where they found Delvon C. Green, a 31-year-old man from Saginaw, suffering from gunshot wounds inside the business. He was rushed to a local hospital, but the injuries were too severe, and he died there.
In the first hours and days after the shooting, authorities described the case as an active, ongoing homicide investigation and said no suspects were in custody. The scene—a place meant for quick errands and late-night cleanups—became a sealed-off pocket of flashing lights and questions, with detectives working to piece together who had been inside the car wash and what led to the gunfire.
As the investigation stretched into the new year, public updates began to sketch a broader picture of the case. Reports tied the shooting to Tae & G’s Hand Wash and More at 2211 East Holland Avenue, and by late February 2023 police said arrests had been made while investigators were still trying to locate an additional person believed to be involved. One suspect—identified in coverage as Allen Foster—was said to be facing a murder charge, and police also indicated there was a third suspect they were seeking.
By early March 2023, the second arrested suspect was publicly named as Marcus Gilmer, and reporting said both Foster and Gilmer had been charged with open murder, with their preliminary hearing set for March 14. Even as the case moved into court, police continued to describe a third suspect as still at large, leaving the sense that the story was not fully closed even with two men already in the system.
Court outcomes later reflected a different end point than the original headlines. Michigan Department of Corrections records show that an offender listed as Anthony Eugene Foster—connected in those records to Saginaw County with a date of offense matching December 13, 2022—was sentenced on September 9, 2024, with convictions recorded for statutory manslaughter and multiple weapons offenses, including possession of a firearm by a felon and felony-firearm counts; the same records list an earliest release date in 2031. In the same system, Marcus Trenell Gilmer is shown as being sentenced on September 9, 2024, on a felony-firearm conviction tied to the same offense date and county, with a discharge recorded in early 2025.
