In the early morning hours of December 28, 1985, Meridian Police Officer Alma Walters, a 29-year-old woman, was tragically killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call. The incident unfolded at approximately 1:30 a.m. at a residence on Railroad Street, marking the eighth anniversary of her service with the department. Upon her arrival, Officer Walters encountered an intoxicated man, who then attacked her, knocking her to the ground and seizing her service weapon.
