On a tragic day in Jackson, Mississippi, Captain Stanley C. Adams, a 45-year-old male officer with the Jackson Fire Department, was killed in a violent rampage carried out by a disgruntled fellow firefighter. The events of April 24, 1996, began when firefighter Kenneth Tornes fatally shot his 42-year-old estranged wife, Glenda Tornes, at their home. Following this initial act of violence, Tornes proceeded to the central fire station, intent on confronting his supervisors.
