In the winter of 2014, the life of 26-year-old James Brian McAlister was tragically cut short in Jackson, Mississippi. On January 23, McAlister was fatally shot in an act of violence that authorities would later suggest was motivated by robbery. For years, the case remained without a resolution, leaving a painful void for those who knew him.
The investigation into his death continued, and in a significant development more than five years later, two individuals were apprehended.
In June 2019, the Jackson Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested 28-year-old Jonathan Beasley and 28-year-old Robert Hurst. Both men were subsequently charged with murder in connection with McAlister's death, bringing a long-awaited break in the case. The arrests marked a pivotal moment in the pursuit of justice for James McAlister and his family.
