In the autumn of 2015, the life of 25-year-old Bradley Adams was tragically cut short in Jackson, Mississippi. On November 9th, he was discovered deceased under circumstances that immediately pointed towards a violent end. An investigation launched by the Jackson Police Department would later confirm that the young man had been shot multiple times.
The case drew significant attention as investigators worked to piece together the events that led to the death of Adams and another
individual, Nedra Johnson, who was also killed. Their efforts led to the identification and arrest of a suspect, Johnathan Nickson. He was subsequently charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of both Adams and Johnson, in addition to a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The legal proceedings that followed in mid-2018 were complex and closely watched. The jury was given the option to consider both first-degree and second-degree murder charges against Nickson. After deliberation, the jury acquitted him of the first-degree murder charges for both victims. However, they could not reach a consensus on the lesser charge of second-degree murder, resulting in a deadlocked jury. This led the court to declare a mistrial on the second-degree murder counts and the firearm possession charge.
