Richard DeShawn Barnes, a 43-year-old resident of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was tragically murdered on the night of December 29, 2015. According to reports, Barnes was shot multiple times outside an abandoned house located at 929 Spencer Street. The incident was reported to the Hattiesburg Police Department around 11:30 p.m. when officers were dispatched to Forrest General Hospital following a report of a shooting victim who had arrived in a vehicle.
