In the small town of Quitman, Mississippi, a dispute between two men over a woman escalated to a fatal conclusion, ending the life of 25-year-old Marcus Blanks. The events leading to the deadly encounter began with a fistfight at a local gas station. Following the altercation, Blanks made his way to the Quail Run Apartments.
