In Tupelo, Mississippi, on March 14, 2016, a domestic disturbance tragically cut short the life of 27-year-old Marketa Williams. The male victim was found with a gunshot wound to the chest on a sidewalk on Crestview Drive following an argument. He was transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Williams' death quickly led to the arrest of a suspect.
Candance Ezell, who was 30 years old at the time, was taken into custody and charged with murder. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Ezell was being held at the Lee County Jail.
Following her arrest, Ezell made her initial court appearance. During the proceedings, her bond was set at $200,000. Her attorney stated that Ezell was a veteran who had served a tour of duty in Iraq and was a student at the University of Mississippi at the time of the incident. The case was set to be presented to a grand jury in April of that year.
