In the small community of Noxapater, Mississippi, the life of 26-year-old Wesley Thomas McCadory was cut short on the evening of Thursday, June 16, 2016. The young man, known for his straightforward sense of humor and a smile that touched many, was fatally shot following a dispute.
That night, events unfolded on Stanley Road after a woman called 911 regarding a domestic violence issue.
While a deputy was en route, another call came in, this time from a man named Joe Devisfruto, who reported that McCadory was on his way to the residence. By the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered a tragic outcome.
Investigators determined that McCadory and Devisfruto had been involved in a physical altercation in the front yard of the home. During the fight, a 9mm Glock pistol was produced. It is believed that three rounds were fired from the weapon, with two striking McCadory at close range. Wesley McCadory was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the immediate aftermath, the Winston County Sheriff's Department launched an investigation into the shooting. The county coroner sent McCadory's body to Jackson for an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death. Authorities stated at the time that they were in consultation with the district attorney and that they anticipated the case would be presented to a grand jury for review. However, there have been no publicly available reports of any arrests being made in connection with the death of Wesley McCadory, nor have there been any subsequent updates regarding the findings of the grand jury or if any charges were ever filed.
