In the small community of Holcomb, Mississippi, near Grenada, the life of 53-year-old Robert Edwin Little, a male former truck driver and construction worker, was tragically cut short on February 22, 2017. The circumstances surrounding his death would lead to a lengthy legal process involving his best friend.
The man responsible for Little's death was identified as Ricky McNeer, who was 55 years old at the time of the initial conviction. In 2019, a jury found McNeer guilty of second-degree murder for killing Little, and he was subsequently sentenced to 40 years in prison. This conviction, however, was not the final chapter in the legal proceedings.
Following his conviction, McNeer filed a motion for a new trial. This legal maneuvering eventually led to a significant change in the case. In January 2022, McNeer pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
