In the quiet town of Centreville, Mississippi, a dispute over a small sum of money escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 24-year-old Gerald Minor, a Black male. On the evening of March 12, 2018, at his home on Rolling Hill Drive, Minor was shot at least twice in the upper body. The sound of gunshots pierced the night, prompting his mother, who was inside the house, to rush outdoors.
In the driveway, she found her son's body and was able to identify two of the individuals she said were present to the police.
The investigation into Minor's death led to the swift arrest of three individuals. Keshonne N. Johnson was taken into custody and charged with murder. Authorities alleged that he was the one who fired the fatal shots after an argument with Minor over money he was owed. He was held at the Wilkinson County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Two other people were also implicated in the events surrounding the shooting. Revon L. McDonald was arrested and charged with accessory to murder. Quinetta Moore faced a charge of accessory after the fact to murder, accused of hiding the gun used in the shooting at Johnson's request. Both McDonald and Moore were held on bonds of $75,000 each. The Wilkinson County Sheriff indicated at the time that the investigation was ongoing and that more arrests were possible. An autopsy was ordered to be performed at the Mississippi Crime Lab to officially determine the cause of death.
