In the spring of 2018, a conversation between two men outside a home in Jackson, Mississippi, took a fatal turn, ending the life of 30-year-old Courtney Butler. On Saturday, March 31, 2018, shots rang out, and Butler was struck multiple times. He was privately transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Following the shooting, the man seen fleeing the scene, 24-year-old Traunta Moore, surrendered himself to the authorities. The Jackson Police Department subsequently charged Moore with murder in connection with Butler's death.
Courtney DeWayne Butler, born on July 9, 1987, was a resident of Jackson and was employed at Watkins Auto Sales at the time of his passing. He was a married father to one son. His death left his family and community to mourn their sudden and tragic loss.
