On a Saturday night in Jackson, Mississippi, the life of Michael Holmes, a 49-year-old Black man, came to a violent and sudden end. The incident occurred on March 9, 2024, in the 4200 block of O'Bannon Drive. There, Holmes was shot multiple times. When police and medical personnel arrived at the scene, they found Holmes with devastating injuries from which he could not recover.
He was pronounced deceased on site.
The Jackson Police Department launched a homicide investigation in the hours that followed. Detectives were tasked with piecing together the events of that night, working to determine the sequence of events that culminated in the fatal shooting.
