On April 24, 2023, 61-year-old Anthony Watts, a pastor from Simpson County, Mississippi, was fatally shot in Jackson. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on the I-55 South Frontage Road near Old Byram Road. Watts had pulled over to assist a man who appeared to have crashed a motorcycle.
