Sergeant Rickey Joe Simmons, a dedicated officer with the Jackson Police Department in Mississippi, tragically lost his life on February 4, 1992. At the age of 46, Sergeant Simmons responded to what was initially reported as a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, he discovered that the situation was actually a domestic dispute involving a mental patient.
